Ludwig Ritter von Mussinan (Feb.5,1826 - May 24, 1908) was alieutenant-general with the Royal Bavarian Army.When he was 19, he voluntarily enlisted in the Royal BavarianArmy's 'Prinzregent Luitpold Feldartillerieregiment' in Munich.For his outstanding bravery (sein tapferes Verhalten) in the Battle ofSedan on the first of September, 1870 during theGerman-French War, he was decorated (ausgezeichnet) with the highestmilitary award of the Kingdom of Bavaria, the'Militar-Max-Joseph-Orden, raised to the nobility' and given thetitle: 'Ritter von'.During his time as Supreme Commandant of the Fourth Royal BavarianField-artillery Regiments 'Koenig' in Augsburg,his staff trumpeter, Carl Karl (1830- 1898), dedicated the "MussinanMarch" to him.
